All guests prayerfully wished that this popular and simple translation now available to the worldwide Church would start a revolution in Bible reading among the faithful.
Earlier this year, the NLTCE was released at the Pope Paul VI Auditorium, St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore, during the Plenary Assembly of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) by his Excellency Most Rev. Salvatore Pennacchio, Apostolic Nuncio to India. Present and joyfully applauding were the Bishops of CCBI. The first copy of the Bible was presented to His Eminence Cardinal Telesphore P. Toppo, Archbishop of Ranchi.
The other dignitaries included Most Rev Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore, Most Rev. Filipe Neri Ferrao, Vice-President CCBI and Archbishop of Goa and Daman, Most Rev. Varghese Chakkalakal, Secretary General of CCBI and Bishop of Calicut, Most Rev. Gali Bali, Bishop of Guntur and former Chairman of CCBI Bible Commission, Dr. Mark D.Taylor, President and CEO, Tyndale House Publishers, Carol Stream, Illinois, US, and Rev Dr. Lucien Legrand who headed the Scholars Committee that reviewed the NLTCE.
The programme started with opening remarks by Rev. Dr. Assisi Saldanha and welcome address by Nigel Fernandes, CEO of ATC Publications, India, and Publishers of the NLT CE. Dr. Mark D. Taylor then introduced the NLTCE while Dr. Lucien Legrand explained the review process.
This was followed by short congratulatory messages delivered by Bishop Gali Bali, Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio and Cardinal Telesphore P.Toppo. The message of Most Rev. J. Susaimanickam Bishop of Sivagangai and President of CCBI Bible Commission, was read in absentia.
All the dignitaries were highly appreciative of the NLTCE and prayerfully wished that this popular and simple translation now available to the worldwide Church would start a revolution in Bible reading among the faithful. The scholars who reviewed the NLTCE Bible were then honored by Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao.
